Conduit Gallery is pleased to announce the acquisition of Margaret Meehan’s sculpture, Sad Songs Say So Much (2020) by the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) for its permanent collection.
Margaret Meehan’s Sad Songs Say So Much offers a poignant summation of the artist’s wide studio and research-based practice. Originally included in Meehan’s February 2021 solo exhibition After Laughter at Conduit Gallery, Sad Songs Say So Much was one of a series of terracotta and mixed media sculptures that was created during the global Covid-19 pandemic, the United States’ recent political unrest and a reawakening of the Black Lives Matter movement born from outcries against anti-black violence and systemic racism.
